Pierre-Auguste Renoir (February 25, 1841–December 3, 1919) A French artist who was one of the early developers of the Impressionist style of painting; six of his artworks were hung in the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874. His paintings emanate bright light, color and harmony. He painted landscapes and candid compositions of people sometimes using a palette knife rather than a brush.
