Andrew Newell Wyeth (July 12, 1917 - January 16, 2009) A well known U.S. artist who painted in the realism style - that is to say his paintings were of subjects as they appear in everyday life. His favorites were the people and the area around his homes in Maine and Pennsylvania. He was instructed in the art of painting by his father, N.C. Wyeth, a famous illustrator and artist, and was adept in the use of watercolor and egg tempera, although he avoided traditional oil paints.
"The challenge to me was to do justice to her extraordinary conquest of a life which most people would consider hopeless... limited physically but by no means spiritually." ~Andrew Wyeth

"I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show." ~Andrew Wyeth
