Jack Vettriano, an artist born in Methil, Fife, Scotland, began painting after his girlfriend gave him a set of watercolor paints for his twenty-first birthday. He's had no formal art training, but his romantic paintings have made his art extremely popular world-wide. He's had sell-out solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, Johannesburg, London, New York and Edinburgh. In 2004 the original painting of Singing Butler was sold at auction for £744,500.
